Some say laughter is the best medicine…Before prescribing the giggles, comedian Michael Lee tried his hand at several hobbies…

“Before I did this I did MMA, and country line dancing – I know that’s really strange just because I’m not a good dancer and obviously MMA is outside of everyone’s comfort zone and then I thought I’d try this.”

Learning the basics to be a great comedian – Lee took a class focusing on writing material, stage presence and delivery…

“A lot of people think that people just get up there and shoot from the hip – but if you shoot from the hip you’re going to die. What you want to do is make it seem like you’re shooting from the hip – you know like a magician.”

Open Mic Nights at Uncle Pearle’s Tavern are essentially a learning experience for veterans and newcomers to comedy – from which jokes work to dealing with hecklers. Joe Satterfield, Co – Owner of Buford Variety Theater, describes Open Mic Nights on Thursday:

“A percentage of them have never done it before – they’re trying it for the first time.”

Want to receive your laughter license? Buford Variety Theater is offering a comedy class starting September 7th…

“Ours is a very quick class it’s 4 weeks. They really focus on what it takes to be a comedian, how to get bookings, how to write a joke from setup to punch-line.”

This movement is heavily promoted by Tea Party and similar organizations. This is the same group of people who revere the Founding Fathers, ceaselessly quote Ronald Reagan, and view Sarah Palin…
