Edwin Thornton was a wanted man – considered armed and dangerous – but on Friday he turned himself into Dekalb Count Police. He’s one of five people police suspect committed a series of armored car robberies in metro Atlanta.
Jail records show Thornton has been charged with murder and aggravated assault in the March 25th killing of an armored car guard in Dekalb.
All 5 suspects are now behind bars – Dooley, Booker and Henderson sit in Gwinnett County Jail. Thornton is in Dekalb County Jail and Bullard is behind bars in Marietta. Investigators believe each suspect played a role in the robberies in Gwinnett.
Veronica Bullard worked for Dunbar Armored before her arrest, and police believe she helped strategize the robberies. It started with planning – the suspects would follow armored cars to learn the route, Corporal Smith with the Gwinnett Police Department says:
“On the day of the incidences – they would wait for the guards to get out with the cartridges of money to reload the ATM machines.”
Dooley, Booker, and Henderson each face 3 counts of Armed Robbery – Thornton faces 2 counts of Armed Robbery. Bullard will be charged with at least 1 count of Party to the Crime of Armed Robbery. Dooley and Henderson also face 3 counts of Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery.
