Cleanup from Monday’s storm is underway, but for one Lilburn man – it’s been a series of unfortunate events. Monday night his home was damaged by the storm, then on Tuesday – burglars hit.

Police initially believed the suspects were members of the media because the homeowner had welcomed 2 men with media credentials inside. But police have confirmed the men thought to be posing as journalists, were in fact a team from ABC National News.

GBC News Reporter Laura Halm spoke with one man whose roof was damaged during Monday night’s storm. He said he was approached by another news organization but he didn’t want any media attention.

“There’s the potential, and obviously it’s already happened for burglary or theft, the risk to my family. There’s a few bad people in this world and it’s my duty as the head of this household to protect it.”

The suspects involved in the Lilburn burglary have not been identified and police say unfortunately criminals do strike in the wake of a natural disaster.

Police say to be wary of strangers in your neighborhood. If a contractor or reporter, knock on your door – check for a couple of things: a marked car, identification, and equipment. If the person still seems suspicious – give police a call.
