On the back of a small wooden cross is a message to Johnathan JJ Campbell…”You will always be in our heart.” There’s a small memorial on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and First Avenue where the 15-year-old Lanier High School freshman died.

A spokesperson with Gwinnett County Schools told GBC Reporter Laura Halm a crisis team was sent to Lanier High School yesterday to help students cope.

There is also a Facebook group remember the ninth-grader. One message says:

“I haven’t prayed for awhile, but I’ve been praying a lot for you now…rest in peace.”

Wednesday morning – police say Campbell’s older sister 17 year old Rebecca Campbell tried turning left in front of a black jeep driven by Jhony Velasquez. His jeep smashed into Campbell’s passenger door.

The ninth-grader died on scene. Police say Velasquez had the right of way, but he was charged with driving without a license.

Investigators don’t know what caused the accident but police say many factors could have played a role. Corporal Ritter with Gwinnett Police says:

“Such as weather – it was raining pretty hard at the time, it could be foggy windows, and maybe the other car didn’t have their lights on…”

This movement is heavily promoted by Tea Party and similar organizations. This is the same group of people who revere the Founding Fathers, ceaselessly quote Ronald Reagan, and view Sarah Palin…
